[Video] How to Auto-Remove Filler Words in Google Vids

This is a 90-second tip that'll save you more time than you'd expect.

Google Vids lets you edit your videos using the transcript instead of a traditional timeline. Which means you don't need to scrub through footage trying to find the bit where you said "um" for the fourth time.

Here's what you can do:

  • Auto-remove filler words (all the ums, ahs, and you-knows) in one click

  • Auto-remove pauses over one second

  • Manually delete sections of the transcript, and the video edits itself to match

So if you've waffled for a bit in the middle of a recording (we've all been there), you just highlight those sentences in the transcript and delete them. Done.

If you need to get a video out quickly, this is the kind of thing that turns a 20-minute faff into a 2-minute job.

Hit play on the video above. It's a minute and a half. You'll see exactly how it works.

Not come across Google Vids yet? It's Google's video creation tool, built into Google Workspace. You can find out more and try it here.
